On Thursday September 19 2019, stop what you’re doing for one hour and pick up a book for Australian Reading Hour. We want all Australians to dedicate some time to read, especially those who have yet to introduce themselves to the benefits of reading, or need to rediscover it.
In children, reading has been shown to help with identity formation, setting them up for success in the future. For adults, reading has been shown to reduce stress by 68%, which is more effective than listening to music, going for a walk, or having a cup of tea.
