We are delighted to welcome back to our program the much loved and charismatic Australian author, Monica McInerney. This year, Monica celebrates her platinum year; 20 years as a published author. Monica’s novels have moved from lively romantic comedies to complex family comedy dramas. Against a backdrop of vivid international settings, she writes about the ties and tensions of family dynamics, parenthood, married life and friendship. Her gripping new family drama, The Godmothers, is set between a luxurious hotel in Edinburgh, an Irish town in the shadow of an ancient castle and country Australia and beyond. The Godmothers is a stunning story about loss and discovery. Eliza Miller grew up in Australia as the only daughter of a troubled young mother. With the constant support of her godmothers, she always felt loved and secure but on her eighteenth birthday a tragic event changed her life.

David McAllister has always belonged on stage. Fifty years since he stepped into his first ballet class, McAllister reflects on his dance journey, his relationships, embracing his sexuality and the combination of talent, timing and sheer perseverance that gave rise to his transformative career. Soar – A Life Freed by Dance is his inspiring story. David joined The Australian Ballet in 1983 and was promoted to principal artist in 1989. He danced many principal roles and made numerous guest appearances worldwide. In 2001 he took his final bow as a dancer and became artistic director of The Australian Ballet. This year he steps down from that role to take on freelance staging and choreographing ballets. From the backblocks of Perth to international stardom, Soar – A Life Freed by Dance is a story of courage to fight for your passion, against the odds, and succeed.
