It’s been seven years since we were treated to the splendour of All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, and any hesitancies I may have had, wondering if Cloud Cuckoo Land would remotely be as good, were dispelled by the end of the first chapter. The book is set in three distinct time frames, the past in 1453, the present, and decades in the future. It follows a wonderful cast of characters, and the way their stories are connected, as well as the story that connects them, is a myth completely invented by Anthony Doerr himself. This book stopped me in my tracks as I was not prepared for the ending and it also made me ponder the past, present and future with a new perspective. Readers are going to be in for a treat with this book!
