I've seen this book described as funny and brave. For me, I cried. This book could not have hit me on a more personal note had it grabbed me by the shoulders and put me back there in one of the classrooms I taught in during my long career as a teacher. I wish Dear Parents was around then, so I could have shared this with the parents of my students, as Gabbie Stroud has done, in a critical and compelling way by giving examples of how they can best help their children.
