To write you need input Reading Journal Reading strategy for high school and university students. 8x10*, 8.5x11
I studied in the Ohio State University years ago. I didn't have reading strategy. Just read and finish it and then write the assignment from the top of my head. I wish I have this journal at that time. Reading and finishing it up is not good enough. We need to be beyond that. Find Pros and Cons. Benefits versus Flaws. What can we make use of what was read? Is there any other alternative besides or even beyond what has been just read?
Many times, we got great ideas from friends, classmates, acquaintances, roommates, librarians, and even janitors if you give them chances. Is it good to share ideas with a group of the same interest? Definitely! Buy a book; find like-minded group; find this journal relevant. Reading and Discussing can be fun and eye-opening. The journal shows reading strategy which can be applied in all types of books, both fiction and non-fiction. Enjoy!
Note: This journal has 10 sets, meaning this journal is for 10 books / chapters. Each set has 10 pairs or 20 pages.
I was inspired by reading strategy of Thaksin Shinawatra, Thailand's Prime Minister after Asian Crisis in 1997. Surprisingly, he returned total IMF loans before it was due within a short period of time. His original idea was to issue Asia's bonds, instead of asking for loans from World Bank and IMF.
During first phase of being entrepreneur, he had failed for 10 years. He is resilient. He is fighter. Also, he is bookish person or book lover. He was avid reader. He has kept self-developing himself from reading. Even growing faster and becoming successful, when he hired multiple teams to read for him. This is his reading secret strategy.
He set up multiple teams to read books. Each team has various background and thus perspectives. Persons in team must read the book and summarize it in their own views. Find flaws. Seek benefits. Benefits versus flaws. Don't believe 100% what was said in the book. Question it. Challenge it. What if the content there was used, what's likely to happen? What if it was not used, what would be likely to happen. How can the team improve what's said in the book? They came up with many scenarios. Teams competed with each other to win in multiple scenarios. Everything must be reported to him.
To use this journal, we prepare you just for that. You can do solo or, better, can find a team or multiple teams to make use of this journal to practice the above. You can do just the same as his assigned teams did. You will be sharpened and prosperous.
This journal can be applied to both fiction and non-fiction.
It has 10 sets, meaning this journal is for 10 books / chapters. Each set has 10 pairs or 20 pages.
I'm also book lover. I have read about 50 books a year. I even have a theme of the year, like entrepreneurship, financial freedom, and so on. A couple years ago, I focused on reading books about entrepreneurship. Other a few books come across might be read as well. These last two years, I focused on financial freedom since I'd like to have passive income more than monthly expenses for that I don't have to worry about money that much anymore.
One of my Facebook acquaintance posted about reading strategy of Thailand's former Prime Minister: Thaksin Shinawatra. I then designed this journal, reflected on his post. I started to look out for a reader group of the same interest. It's a lot more fun than solitude reading. Although, I'm introvert and quite reserve, I enjoy sharing ideas of the like-minded people, book lovers. Hope, you enjoy this journal like me.
Moved! I was inspired by the documentary film on Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese artist who came before time. She was original and innovative. She set up gay wedding 40 years ago. At that time, Americans were far more conservative and sexists. Only American male artist earned and were accepted. She is not only a female but also is a foreigner, Japanese. What could you do if you were in her shoes? Let's see what she has done.
Her theme of life is dots. Dots represent infinity. She has made a lot of artistic pieces, paintings, artworks, a mirror room with bulb, various colors and sizes representing substances in infinite universe.
She was an activist during Vietnam War. Experiencing war first hand, during WWII, she sew for military stuff for Japanese soldiers when she was young and was a student in Japan. Japanese boys had to be soldiers while girls had to be supportive. That's why, she protested war. She thought why beautiful artistic bodies need to be in war and ruined. Nudity was her work to protest war.
Although her work was original, nobody accepted and a few male artists even stole her idea. As a result, she struggled and was deeply depressed. Not succeed in New York, she went back to Japan, whose arts was far behind the US far more than 100 years. Even in the US, she was before time; what about back there then? Even worse, her family, her hometown and her country thought of her as an embarrassing person of family, town and country. She was then severely depressed, and attempted to commit suicide. She was finally schizophrenic. She was sent to Psychiatric hospital where her physician was interested in Arts Therapy. She returned to make arts once again.
Today, she is the most accepted and famous female artist who is still living. Her works worth millions $. She keeps doing her works. Her studio is just 2 blocks away from the hospital where she stays at night. She has had life purpose, to make arts of her own and been obsessed about it. She has stayed true to that until death finds her.
