The last series of Inspector Montalbano was, we think all fans agree, the finest yet. The producers have decided to go backwards now, using some of Andrea Camilleri's earlier books, and paint a picture of Montalbano in his younger days. The results are splendid, and even though Luca Zingaretti was a definitive older Montalbano, Michele Riondino is totally charming as the younger inspector. The humour, the food, and the instinctive detection skills are all on display. A real treat for fans of slightly gruff Sicilian crime fiction.
Montalbano is back - with a twist!
