Good, but did not meet my expectations
The Selection is one of my favourite series. For the past year, I have been "patiently" waiting for the release of this highly anticipated book. I was somewhat disappointed with the slow pace of the book and also that Eadlyn was very reluctant to have a selection; however, there were a few funny moments where she uses her "superiority" on some of the selected. Sure there was an unrest at the beginning, I found that the plot structure was rather flat until that sudden cliffhanger at the end. The cliffhanger though, it made my heart stop. it was a bit too abrupt and unexpected.
Because, Eadlyn was behaving like an annoying, bratty, snobby and overprivileged princess, I just found her character unlikeable. Despite her best interests for her twin Ahren, she has no right to interfere with his life. Stop being jealous of his happiness and love for Camille and maybe actually take some interest in the selection. Her personality seems nothing like that of her parents or her other siblings.
I found that the selected were two-dimensional characters with the exception of maybe Henri and Kile. I so ship Kile and Eadlyn, but only is she learns to let go of her insecurities and grow up. Henri is pretty cute and adds much needed depth to this story.
I will definitely read the fifth book because the series is just so addictive. I just hope that Kiera Cass makes the fifth book as good as The One (my favourite in the series). I will stick around and wait until 2016.
I would rate this about 3.5/5
