Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I and II (Special Rehearsal Edition)

The Official Script Book of the Original WestEnd Production

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London's West End on 30th July 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

RATINGS & REVIEW

Great book
Pre-ordered the book/script through Dymocks, although I was left disappointed at the price as I passed Big W on the release date (31 July) and purchased a copy for $15. Big W had a cheaper price, and I also didn't have to wait for delivery. I chose to pre-order incase I missed out, but now I will have 2 copies :). Great book, but suggest purchasing at Big W for a cheaper price.

A great expansion of the Harry Potter world.
This book has probably one of the weirdest plots that I've read to date, but I wouldn't have it any other way as it is full of surprises that keep you guessing.

Great Book!
At first, I thought it wasn't going to be as great as the other books J.K. Rowling wrote but after taking only a day and a half to finish the book. I must say I really enjoyed it! It was worth the read .

THE MAGICS BACK AND ITS GREAT!
THIS MUCH PUBLICISED story of the sons and daughters of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and the one and only Hermione Grainger, is certainly an enigma. Some readers will love it, some will hate it. Some (or most) will probably fall approximately into the middle. Personally I take it for what it is – the script for a play which has huge entertainment value, a surprisingly strongly emotional ending, as well as a plethora of plot twists and turns along the way. It is certainly well structured, avoiding the tediousity (is that a word?) of unnecessary lessons and introductions and steep learning curves and exams that we all have fond memories of, and instead, focusing on the relationship (or in some cases, the lack thereof) which make up life in the world of witches and wizards. Oh, and there’s an adventure to be had, too, and its a doosie. As i mentioned above, once the story gets going, the plot twists and turns more frequently than the mighty Amazon River. Naturally it is not as deep or as moving as the full length novels which created this extraordinary and world changing legend. The star of the show is undoubtedly SCORPIUS, the lone son of Draco Malfoy. And what a sad story *that* is. He (SPOILERS) befriends Albus Potter (son of Harry and Ginny) in chapter one and the reader doesn't look back. Some of the lines he comes out with will make all readers, especially adults, burst out laughing over and over again. Once you get used to the writing and publishing style of the book, it becomes a joy to read. There is no great depth here, so adjust your mind set from the great times and adventures of books 1 through 7 before commencing. New characters are a bonus, especially one in particular (SPOILERS) whom the reader will meet and be suitably impressed with on the Hogwarts Express. Having said that, it *is* hard at times, thinking of the world saving trio of Ron, Harry and Hermione as grown up adults, each with adult and muggle based responsibilities of their own to manage and deal with. What is not difficult to accept is the rambunctious goings-on of the two main characters studying magic (as a part time hobby) but also managing to saving the world, and coincidentally preventing the dreaded the return of You Know Who in the process. Scorpius is a gorgeous character, full of life and live, and wisdom, and enthusiasm to make things right, even if he hates the Greatest Wizard The World Has ever Known Who Happens to Be His Father. The utlimate solution to the puzzle of preventing the return of You Know Who is brilliant. In typical JK fashion, hints are scattered throughout the book for the eagle eyed observer to pick up and analyse. I am thefirst to confess I did not see it all coming, but i much prefer to sit back and enjoy the show instead of wasting precious amounts of mental concentration trying to predict what is about to happen. So the book is finished. I loved it. As i have said above, it is not as long, deep or complex as the classics from the past but its a great way for veterans to extend the most unique fantasy universe ever created. If nothing else, once read, it gives the reader strong encouragement to revisit the wonder, excitement, pure innocence and absolute genius of the original books sooner than you normally would have. And that can’t be a bad thing, can it? Four stars for this fantastic but slighty short read.

I want more!
Fantastic sequel to the series but unfortunately I was left wanting more. I would advise any fan of Harry Potter not to rush through this book, take it slow and savour it.

Love the book, not the price
Finally! After all this time! Always waiting! And the light came with Lumos! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! People, it's not a book. It's a play full of wonders. When I'm reading it, I can feel my heart beating, my eyes spinning, my brain working. I can picture the stage, the amazing effects the team created. Though I did not have a chance to see the play, the play fulfills the disappointment [well, kinda]. How can a Harry Potter fan resist this seemingly official fanfiction? It has Albus! It has Scorpius! It hasRon! It has C[concealed] (wait what?) Never mind the spoiler. You can read it yourself. And people, if you MIND THE PRICE, go to Big W or Costco. $20 after 31st of July (yesterday). But oh wow, I love the book so much I don't really that much mind the little-too-high-slash-pricey-price Dymocks decided to make us pay. Come on, lower the price. But seriously, you can't miss out on this.

This is a story of harry potter's son trying to create a legacy as great as his fathers, but runs into trouble along the way. Albus Severus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy try to rewrite the past in this fantastic story.
This book was one of the best stories I've read in a while as its story involves some great concepts. The book itself is a script for the upcoming play: Harry Potter and the cursed child. All your favourite characters return, even some who were from way back in the 1st couple of harry potter books. This book is fantastic and I'd recommend it to any Harry Potter fan!
