The primary objective of the book is the description of seven lessons learned while the author served as Pastors Assistant for the Rock of Ages Baptist Church of Maywood, Illinois, under the shepherding leadership of Reverend Marvin E. Wiley. As for the seven lessons learned they include: availability, where a persons support can only been identified through being there. Then there is loyalty; which is the part of faithful support where an individual will demonstrate their loyalty and not just talk about it.Theres also teachability; a quality that should not be missing in the process of discipleship. The leader that cannot be taught will never recognize what true leadership is, because it starts in being a follower. These just a few lessons, the others will lead to a balanced way of supporting pastoral leadership. The book leads the readers through three sections covering the authors personal perspective of faithful support of pastoral leadership, a Biblical look at what it means to support spiritual leadership in the kingdom of God, and finally those seven lessons of leadership learned during the authors ministry at his home church, where he currently holds his membership.
