This book pulls together strategies and exemplars from three best-selling books, Instruction for All Students, Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners, and Why Didnt I Learn This in College? plus a few new ones. The exemplars are from participants in the workshops series based on those books and from teachers ASK Group Consultants have had the opportunity to observe in action.
The first few pages are devoted to establishing a context for the for the whys and hows of active learning and engagement. First the research on active learning and engagement is reviewed and then I present my own work around planning standards-based lessons with a particular emphasis here on the necessity for and power of Framing the Learning for students.
