Sarah Winman accepts the 2021 Dymocks Book of the Year Award

Upon winning the award Sarah said "I’m so thrilled that Still Life has been awarded Dymocks’ Book of the Year. Totally honoured. And most of all, incredibly grateful for the support Dymocks has shown, not only to Still Life but to my previous books. Moments like these can often change a book’s trajectory. As writers we like our books, ultimately, to be read. And with Dymocks’ endorsement, if my book falls into the hands of someone who normally wouldn’t read me, then that is golden. Thank you so much."

We are envious of those of you who get to read this gorgeous novel and experience the incredible setting, characters and writing within the pages for the first time. Don’t just take our word for how great this story is though. Read a FREE extract below and try not to purchase the gorgeous special hardcover edition when you run out of pages!

"I am stunned at how utterly amazing this novel is!! Full of the city of Florence, extraordinary friendships and loves, as well as art, music and food (all the good things in life!) and the way that lives intersect throughout a lifetime and when the times get tough, good friends will show up (in an ambulance van, no less). So skilful, so uplifting and I didn't want it to end!"
