From six of the top YA authors around, Blackout follows thirteen teenagers as sparks fly during a power outage, their stories interwoven across one sweltering, starry night. Award-winning, acclaimed and bestselling authors Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, and Nicola Yoon celebrate young love in the big city.
"Love is in the air even if light is not as we follow six short stories of black teens and their adventures throughout the night in NYC. Blackout is about first meetings, love triangles, wishful thinking, heartbreak and rekindled love. It doesn’t focus on police brutality and systemic racism, but instead celebrates family, NYC and joyful teen love. This story is exactly what the world needs right now - a feel-good YA book purely based on black teens - where the stories are universal, and the characters are relatable to any teen. Sharply observed, urgent and with adorable stories, Blackout is hope that love emerges even in the darkest of times and there is always light in the end. This book has it all and I’m definitely not surprised that the Obamas are turning it into a series. I can hardly wait!!"
