What does Father’s Day mean to you?
TA: Father’s Day for me is a time to remember my own Dad, who died ten years ago, a former English teacher, who inspired by love of reading and books. It is also a time to be pampered by my three daughters, who make fun of me constantly, but when you’re the only male in the family that comes with the territory. .
Have you been gifted a book for Father’s Day? If yes, could you tell us about it?
TA: I’m constantly being given books on Father’s Day because it’s regarded as the go-to present for a writer, who thinks books are the most beautiful gift you can give.
What books would you recommend/would you like to receive for Father’s Day this year?
TA: As a crime read, I would recommend Blacktop Wasteland by S.A. Crosby, which features an unforgettable main character Beauregard "Bug" Montage – a husband, father, honest car mechanic and the best getaway driver on the East Coast. Rarely has a crime novel captured the truth about poverty and deprivation being at the heart of crime.
What’s your favourite reading memory with your children?
TA: I read my children the first few Harry Potter novels and then watched their reading skills develop until they could devour each new offering themselves.
Why should someone gift your book this Father’s Day?
TA: I hope there are lots of reasons for my book to be unwrapped on Father’s Day, but mostly, I hope readers will fall in love with my characters and stay with them through every twist and turn, hoping I can keep them safe.
