Born in Melbourne, raised on the Gold Coast and currently resides between Sydney and the USA – certified true blue Aussie.
Passions include teaching people about the paleo way, surfing, fishing – and cooking and living with a fantastically feel-good healthy focus.
Restaurants have been a part of Pete’s life since the age of 19. He has opened seven in his time as a chef and restaurateur, including The Pantry, Hugo’s Manly and, his latest success, a contemporary tapas bar in Melbourne’s CBD, the unique Bar Nacional.
High-profile catering is another proud passion – from a royal banquet for the Prince and Princess of Denmark to a private dinner for Martha Stewart or a gala G’Day USA dinner for 600 in New York City, Pete loves making any event super special.
Cooking, food and lifestyle TV programs have been another of Pete’s highly successful pursuits. Starting out in 2001 as a co-presenter on the Lifestyle Channel’s Home show, his credits also include Postcards from Home, FISH, and co-host with Manu Feildel since 2009 of Channel 7’s hugely and internationally successful My Kitchen Rules. Pete’s latest TV series, Moveable Feast, showcases America’s finest artisans, producers and chefs and is currently screening in the US. The Paleo Way is Pete’s latest television and online series which showcases amazing recipes and interviews with the leading paleo authorities.
Cookbooks? Of course! Pete has published
seven of them, all internationally successful, and there’s an eighth on the way.
Magazines are also keen to feature Pete’s recipes and ideas. He contributes to many publications, including producing regular columns for Fine Cooking, Wellbeing, MiNDFOOD, Gourmet Traveller and New Idea magazines.
Speaking about healthy eating and wellness for a small crowd to thousands, is another passion of Pete’s. One of Australia’s leading authorities on healthy cooking and lifestyle, he loves to share his knowledge and educate and motivate parents, children and corporate audiences. And they love him!
Supporting organisations in synch with his own values is another of Pete’s passions. He is involved with Regenesis Youth (a new organisation dedicated to empowering disengaged teenagers) and the Mindd Foundation (using integrative healthcare, including food as medicine, in the treatment of metabolic, immunologic, neurologic, digestive and developmental conditions that often affect the mind). Pete is also an ambassador of the Australian Organic Schools garden project.
